An anthology on the 20th century painter
From July 10th to September 8th in the Palazzo Pubblico
The Siena Committee of the Società Dante Alighieri – together with the Headquarter of the Società Dante Alighieri and other institutions – is proud to co-sponsor the exhibition on the Sienese painter Piero Sadun celebrating 100 years from his birth (1919 – 1974).
Landscapes, portraits, nudes, but also indoor scenes, animals, still-lifes, and tributes to intellectuals and artists who were friends of him – as Mario Verdone and Cesare Brandi – or who he just admired – like Caravaggio.
Next to these works full of an incredible sensation of inner depth – where the warm and enchanting chromatism of red and orange shades shifts to beams of light generated by yellow and ocher tonalities – there will be exhibited the paintings where, after the figurative period, Sadun put in the foreground his beautiful palette to focus on abstractionism.
